Setting Up Google Webmaster Tools in WordPress

   THANK YOU! I love your “Tip of the Day”, and I’m having trouble performing today’s setting up Google Webmaster Tools. I hope you can help me. I’ve done everything up to “verify”, and each attempt fails. Don’t I have to enter the meta content into my website before Google can verify? If so, how do I do that on my WordPress blog http://MagnoliaJazz.com? Thanks in advance for your help.

   YES – you do have to enter the meta content before Google can verify your site.

   Once you’ve setup your webmaster tools account and installed (and activated) the plugin mentioned in the video, on the settings page for the plugin, you’ll need to enter the verification code as follows…

   If your meta tag looks like this:

   meta name="google-site-verification" content="IOHY2qNGo4YsSCpucMz52y_-322cxik-j6-eb6bEJxY"

   … then the part you need to copy & paste into the settings page for the Google Webmaster Tools plugin would be everything inside of the quotation marks after content=

   IOHY2qNGo4YsSCpucMz52y_-322cxik-j6-eb6bEJxY

   Great stuff, Ben. I was wondering, however what the difference was between having Google Analytics and Google Webmaster tools? Are they mutually exclusive or do they have similar functions.

   OMG… I can’t tell you how happy I am right now! I spent 2 hours trying to find the right video to get this working (with google search wrong info), and of course I found exactly what I was looking for here! Thanks for much for this Ben!

   Wat has replaced all in one webmaster wp plugin? I can’t find the plugin anymore?
